My first blog entry!
I've written many articles for my clients and sent them out through Mailchimp.com. The response has been tremendous and it has been very rewarding. As I near retirement, it's time to do more teaching and less doing. Well, doing work anyway.
Politics:
Who cares? The politicians would like you to think they are the most important people in the world. The stock market begs to differ. Any economist worth a salt will tell you that contrary to public opinion, which party and which person was in office has little to do with the economy. Businesses thrive on stability, and when the economy is stable and interest rates are reliable, business succeeds.
Covid:
The best laid plans of mice and men...Covid has been devastating. It may have been natural, it may have been intended - we may never know. However, it's effect will remain forever. Life will never be the same. Let's hope it comes close though. Let's pray that the grandparents and parents we have lost live in eternal life, and we all appreciate the shortness of the lease we have on this earth and take in all we can. Carpe Diem - Seize the day!
Business:
The best analogy I know of is football, because just about everyone in our country understands it. Football teams plan...there are basically five parts:
The draft, preseason, regular season, the playoffs, the Super Bowl.
In life, we plan...College, our first job, starting a business, preparing to sell it, the final business sale.
Build to sell. Wise words my boss thirty years ago taught me. Rarely has it failed me.
Joke:
I always like to end on a pleasant note. My favorite? Why doesn't Iowa have a professional football team? Because then Minnesota would want one.
